No Splash Zone!

Today we went to Lakes Park to go to the Farmer's Market, play on the playground and have a picnic. We met Kellie, Lorelai and Kinley there. We were a few minutes late and when we got there Kellie and her girls had already gone thru the very small farmer's market in the parking lot and were swinging on the swings. I pushed Madison for a few minutes and then she whined to get down. Lorelai was asking to go to the wet playground, so we headed over to the water area. I took Madison there a few times last year and she loved it. As soon as we got over there and she saw it she got excited and started pointing. I couldn't get her changed into her suit and lotioned up quick enough. However when we actually got on the wet playground she became very clingy and wanted nothing to do with it. I tried to let her stand back and watch the other kids, but she stayed right on the edge or leaned on me. So, I decided to take her to one of the water sprays and had her touch the water, but that only made her scream! At one point she was pointing out of the playground and whining as if saying "Get me out of here!" We even switched to the other playground which is more toddler friendly, but she just stood and watched and even went to the fence and shook it like she was stuck in jail! We'll keep trying and hopefully next time she will be a more willing participant!

Kinley and Lorelai had fun at least! Kinley was hilarious! She walked around in circles. She would walk to one of the water shoots let it get her soaking wet and then walk back over to Kellie and jabber something to her. She did this over and over with a huge smile and lots of giggles! It was so cute. I kept hoping Kinley's enthusiasm would rub off on Madison, but it never did. After we played on both playgrounds we grabbed a picnic table under one of the pavilions so we could have our picnic lunch. It was such a nice day to be outside. It was warm, but cloudy so it never felt too hot. It actually looked like it was going to rain most of the time we were there but luckily it never did. Despite Madison's resistance to the water we had a good time. Below are a couple of shots of the girls as we were walking back to our cars. Not very good pics because they were all getting tired. Kinley actually fell asleep in her stroller. Madison fell asleep on the way home and woke up when we got home, but still looked sleepy. I laid her down but she stayed awake in her crib for like an hour talking/playing before finally finishing her nap.
