Michigan

Last Saturday morning we flew into the Detroit airport. Thanks to my friend Jaime we were able to roll Madison's carseat thru the airports. Jaime had this thing that attaches to the back of the carseat and makes it like a cart to roll. So in the airports we strapped her into her seat and then she was able to use it on the plane, we just had to check the attachment at the gate.

When we got into to Detroit it was freezing and there were intermittent fine snow flurries, but there was a good 4-6 inches of snow on the ground. After we picked up our rental car we grabbed some quick lunch and then headed for Aunt MaryAnn's house. She was excited to see my mom and completely surprised to see Madison and me (we hadn't told her we were coming). She later told me that of all the people that came she was the most surprised by me. Definitely made me glad I went!

After a short visit we headed south to my Grandma's house in Temperance, MI. It was about a 45 minute drive from Aunt MaryAnn's. Shortly after we got to Grandma's house my Aunt Vicki (my dad's sister), my cousin Katlyne and Katlyne's boyfriend Kyle dropped by for a visit. We saw Grandma and Katlyne last summer in Atlanta, but I hadn't seen Aunt Vicki since I was there over 9 years ago for my grandpa's funeral. So it was really nice to get to see them again!

Katlyne is 17 years old and a junior in high school. Madison absolutely loved her! When they first got there Katlyne set up a castle tent for Madison to play with and Aunt Vicki gave Madison a few gifts. She is so loved! Aunt Vicki fell in love with Madison, but it took Madison a while to warm up to her. She was definitely more into Katie.

While at my grandma's house Madison and I had to share a bed. This was Madison's first time in a big bed. We lined her side of the bed with pillows and put more pillows on the floor just in case there was an accident, but she did fine! She was practically glued to me all night! Needless to say I never got a very good sleep while we were away...I got her foot in my face many times!
