Card Night with the Whiteheads

Aunt Lois, Scott and Denise
Scott had been wanting to go to Iowa for several years.  His mom was born in Iowa and lived there until she was 13 when she moved to Florida.  Scott also wanted to go there when his Uncle Skip was going too so that Uncle Skip could give him a tour of where they grew up.  Uncle Skip and Aunt Lois go there every summer for Aunt Lois's family reunion.  Scott's parents were planning to go for her reunion too, so it was the prefect opportunity for us to go too. Friday evening the Whitehead reunion started with card night in a town a few miles north called Van Wert. It was a the community center right on the corner or First and Main, but it was the only thing around.  There were a couple of abandoned buildings across the street, but not much else (see pics below)!!

Scott's parent's flight didn't get in until late that night, so we didn't get to see them until Saturday morning, but we did get to see Uncle Skip, Aunt Lois, Denise (Skip's daughter/ Scott's cousin) and Carla (Denise's daughter) at the card night. We didn't actually play cards, most of the people were, but we didn't because we weren't planning to stay long.  We had a snack and talked, and Madison broke out of her shell and played with some of the other kids there.  She was so cute.  There was a small stage on one side of the room where all the kids were playing (mostly little girls).  Madison would run to the stage sit down, turn and look at us and then run back to us.  She would give us huge smiles and sometimes a hug or kiss, then I would tell her she could go play and it would start all over again.  She had a blast!! I took a video of her doing this, but it was not with quite as much enthusiasm as she had when she started it, but you get the idea. We left the gathering about 9:30pm and went back to our room to get some much needed sleep.  Poor Madison's schedule was completely messed up the entire time we were gone.  She was up late every night and still up around 8ish each morning.  Naps were hit or miss, a few taking place in the car, but she was such a trouper the whole time.  In fact the last day we were there Scott's mom commented on how she had only seen her fuss once briefly all week.  She is so easy going, it made for a great vacation!

Dishing out kisses to Daddy!

Such a social butterfly. Which camera did you use to take video?
