Floating Lights

Monday night of vacation we set off a glowing lantern just like in Rapunzel. Grandma had found this lantern at a discount store before we got there. After Mallorie went to bed we went outside to launch it. We were definitely afraid that it was going to fall down on the house and set it on fire, but it went up very quickly. It had to have gone about a mile up into the night sky before the fire went out...don't know where it landed though! Madison really enjoyed her Rapunzel lantern. Thanks, Grandma!

Grandma and Daddy getting the lantern opened.

 Time to light it!

And a short video of the launching of the lantern.

The best seat in the house to watch the lantern soar high into the sky!

The next day Aunt Jackie came back with her friend and Aunt Pam. We visited with everyone and then enjoyed a spaghetti dinner before heading home. We drove until about 1am and then got a hotel in Cordele, GA. The first hotel we stopped at only had a suite, so we tried another and it had a room but no crib. Not wanting to keep looking we decided to take it. I slept with Mallorie and Madison slept with Daddy. The girls had been asleep in the car, so when we got into our room Mallorie was pumped up and ready to go. She was climbing all over me, bouncing on the bed, screaming and laughing. She was hilarious! Eventually she went to sleep at about 2am! Unfortunately she woke up before 7am. I tried to lay in bed and nurse her back to sleep, but she was wide awake! So much for my sleep! At about 8am Madison got up and then Daddy not too long after that. We got ready grabbed a quick breakfast downstairs and then continued on our way home. We pulled in right at 6pm that night! The girls slept off and on and Mallorie would cry here and there, but overall they were both really good!
